Ryan looked up at the twilight sky. He never understood how some of these different regions worked with some being immersed under a single sky when the town next to it followed the natural laws of the world. It was one of many things he chalked up to magic, something he understood even less than the sun and the stars. His master had tried teaching him to wield fire, ice, wind, and even healing magic to no avail. It all escaped him and how he ever managed to defeat his fellow apprentices, many of whom were much more powerful in those arts than him, he never knew.
The people walked by, paying him no mind as they often did. The calm ordinariness of it all brought a faint smile to his face. It meant he did his job correctly. Heartless were always roaming worlds, seeking hearts and killing innocents to get them. It was always frightening, when one lost their battle with darkness and the results of such failure.
I need an apprentice. Ryan confirmed to himself. The amount of Keyblade wielders that belonged to the Darkness was too great and every day he could tell his fellow masters were failing to keep up. He lacked the sense that his master had, however, he could not tell if someone had the potential to be a great master or not. He looked at the people passing by and felt nothing -- whether it was because they were not capable or because of his own failings he wasn't sure but he felt certain it was the latter. There were a near infinite number of people around him, how could not one be a good apprentice to him?
He continued walking, looking passively at the passersby.

Lucis took a look around at the quiet street. There was no one here, besides her and two other, more experienced knights. They had been called here to investigate the strange appearance of three Keyblade wielders of unknown origin. They had been told it had looked like a fight was about to happen, but there was no signs of a struggle anywhere nearby.
”Any leads?” one of the knights asked a third knight, who came from one of the side streets. ”If they were here, they're gone now.” he replied. The knights all furrowed their brows, Lucis included. If they were seekers of darkness, their appearance here might not be all random. Something was amiss, she thought, but she could not really figure out what.
”Lucis, you coming?” the knight captain of the group asked, as they all stepped onto one of the knight's Keyblade gliders. Lucis looked up and shook her head. ”I'll stay a bit, see what I can find.” she said. The man looked hesitant to let her, but eventually nodded. ”But be careful,” he said, to which the woman nodded in agreement. ”I will, captain.”

"Hey, you lot!" Ryan called out to the clearly armored individuals. He noted the vehicle two of them were on. A Keyblade Glider, something Ryan had yet to actually bother with with his own weapon. Eventually he would attempt to use it but now it was not an important matter. These three were interesting. Were they servants of darkness or did they walk in the light? Or were they simply uninvolved with the greater conflict. "I would have words with you all."

Just as the captain was about to set off with the other knights, save Lucis, a man came up to them, clearly wanting their attention. Lucis wondered who this guy was, but figured he might know something about the Keyblade wielders if he tried making contact. Walking in between him and the captain, she looked the man in the eye with the one not covered by her eyepatch, and spoke.
”What can we help with?” she asked in er politest voice. ”Before you answer, do you happen to have seen three people with Keyblades anywhere near here?” She knew it was to the point, but she couldn't risk having them run loose in this place.

Three? That was disturbing news to him. Ryan had not seen another for some time since he came to Twilight Town, and now there were three and, apparently, this lot as well. The secrets to crafting Keyblades had apparently spread far. "I haven't seen anyone with... Keyblades you called them?" He let out a laugh. "I'm afraid I don't know exactly what you're looking for. Cool ride by the way. Never seen one like it."
Keep watch of them or let them loose on those other wielders? It was a tough decision. "Really, I just wanted to know if you could suggest anywhere to eat. Preferably somewhere that won't cost me any munny. I'm a traveling mercenary and, unfortunately, I've lost all my munny and my sword with it."

Lucis looked up at her captain and shrugged, the man just shaking his head, before they took off, with a ”you handle it here, Lucis.” Lucis sighed and turned back to the man. ”No, I … I'm not from around here. I'm a knight of the royal court back in Radiant Garden,” she said, before rummaging through a pouch on the side of her belt.
”Here, I have a bit to spare, get something to eat when you find it,” she said, as she handed the man a small amount of Munny, just enough for a small bite to eat at most places. ”Anyway,” she then added, not being able to hold back her curiosity. ”What's a mercenary doing here, of all places?”

Ryan took the money in hand and shoved it into his pocket. "What a coincidence, Radiant Garden was where I was heading to." When the other two knights were gone, he sighed and a flash of light engulfed his hand and the Keyblade, Master's Defender, shot out, pointed right at the one-eyed woman. "What do you know about the Keyblades? What do you know about the War?" He shouted. "A knight of Radiant Garden? I can buy that. Your king is looking to involve himself in this affair or something? Is he just another one of those fools looking to walk beyond those doors?" His voice was grave. He knew what Kingdom Hearts was, better than most anyway.
He had not gotten to the most important thing, however. "And how did you get those gliders? You could not have them without a Keyblade? Who taught you? Who gave them to you?"

When the man suddenly summoned a Keyblade, Lucis was at first surprised, but quickly caused her own, massive Keyblade to appear in her hand, shoving the man's to the side, as she jumped back. ”You're raising a weapon against a member of the royal guard? You stupid or something?” she said. ”What of yourself, you're the most questionable one around!”
The woman tightened the grip on her Keyblade, ready to counter any move made by the other man. She was a defensive fighter, and striking first wasn't her style. Waiting, she glared the man right in the eye, not backing down, the only shiver running through her body being caused by adrenaline...

"You'd dare to question my goals?" He stood side-facing with his Keyblade in one hand. He kept a slight distance from her. He preferred it when his foe came upon him first. Ryan was calm. He had fought enough apprentices to keep the rush of battle from overwhelming him. "I am a Guardian of Light, a Keyblade Master. One who has seen more than you and your knights ever will."
He smiled, he saw the woman's stance, he saw the look in her eye and could feel the steadfastness in her body. He laughed as his Keyblade disappeared from his hand. "I would have you as an apprentice, my friend. Whether you fight for the darkness or your king's own ambition, I would want you under me and I'll teach you to properly use that Keyblade. When it is done, you will know that it is Light that must be victorious in this war before it is too late."

”You question mine, so it seems only appropriate doesn't it?” the woman said in response. She then heard him call himself a guardian of life, and … Keyblade Master? She shook it off her and kept her stance. ”If you're truly a Guardian of Light, how come you're threatening the Knight of the Radiant King Aegle, Protector of all Light?” she demanded to know, but before she knew it, the man had put away his Keyblade and … asked her to become his apprentice?
”You really are dense. I already have a master, not some silly excuse like you either,” she said, furrowing her brows. However, now that the man semed less threatening, she dismissed her Keyblade as well. He claimed to be a Guardian of Light, so there was no point in them fighting anyway, was there?

He let out a yawn. Ryan did not realize how little he had slept. "Your king dresses himself in titles thinking it will give him power, that's how it always goes. He is not a true protector of the Light. Not while I've heard so little of him doing anything and it is the Keyblade Masters of the Land of Departure that have taken the front against the dark ones. Would you really think that master to be any better than one who actively seeks the darkness to destroy it?" He frowned.
"I know that look though, I guess there's little I can do to persuade you." Ryan turned and walked away. "And thank you for the munny, I was hungry."

”Hmph! You're the one flinging around titles. The titles ha has has been earned as a protector of the people of Radiant Garden and the realm of light!” the woman said, obviously annoyed at the man, who seemed to think he was better than anyone else to a point where the woman felt like sticking two fingers in her throat just to bear it.
”He is what we should all aspire for and--” the woman stopped in her tracks, before she moved quickly to get in front of the man. ”You decieved me! Give me back my munny you Guardian of Stupidity!” She glared at the man.

He smiled. "Does charity mean so little?" Ryan pushed her softly away and continued down the road, not quite sure of where to go but certain there was a café somewhere nearby. There was little left he was willing to give to her, the departure of her fellow knights had made him bold and he realized after that it was a mistake trying to talk to her -- there was no way she would ever have shared any knowledge with him and he never cut the threatening figure he wished he could. His laugh echoed down the street and a few civilians stared at him oddly. After some tens of minutes of walking, he finally found a small place along the main street and sat himself down.

The man did not get to sit quietly for long, before the woman placed herself on a chair across from him. ”It's not charity when they're given under false pretenses!” she growled, making people stare, though she didn't care. ”Those are my hard earned munny! I thought I was helping a guy in need of something other than a brain!”
”Excuse me?” a voice suddenly said, and the woman looked up to see a man. ”You're scaring the other costumers, so I must ask you to quiet down or leave.” The woman looked back at the man who had indirectly robbed her. ”Not before he gives me back my munny!” she roared.

"Two slices of chocolate cake," he said with a raised hand. "Green tea, if you have it." Ryan chose to entirely ignore the woman's words and act only on the fact she was sitting with him at all. "I've never actually gotten a good tour of Twilight Town before. I haven't even looked at any of the café menus before so price was a bit of a worry. But, I guess there's enough for two, isn't there?" He smiled. A quick look around the patio was enough to give him a laugh, the people all looked at the two of them, not something he was particularly keen on as he'd have preferred to be in and out without being noticed but it was what it was.
